Patio Green Wall

Aix-en-Provence • 2020

In Aix-en-Provence, we designed a living green wall for the layout of an outdoor patio, meant to turn a transition space into a corner of nature. The constraint was to install a vertical garden in the open air, able to withstand the Provençal climate and strong sunshine, while ensuring healthy growth. Our solution is a free-standing structure fitted with an automatic irrigation system suited to outdoor conditions, for controlled maintenance. The composition blends Mediterranean, perennial and evergreen plants, chosen for their resistance to sun and heat. Standing 2.2 metres high and 1 metre long, this living green wall dresses the patio with a dense natural presence, improves thermal comfort and creates a soothing biophilic atmosphere. In Aix-en-Provence, this custom plant scenography creates a smooth transition between architecture and nature, brings freshness and privacy, and lastingly enhances the exterior of the home.
